This appears to be wrong. An amount is shown on 1b on the SS form. I did not live abroad. Where does this come from? It is the same as my SS benefit amount, basically making it all non-taxable.

After you entered your SSA1099, the next screen asked if you lived in certain foreign countries in 2025. How did you answer on that screen?

After you completed entry of the SSA-1099 for your Social Security benefits there was a screen We need some info to check if your Social Security income is taxable where you were asked if you lived in any of the countries listed. You should have selected NO.

Go back and review your answer to this screen.

To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button

See my post on this one about 2024. I attached a screenshot.

Bug in TurboTax 2024 Foreign Tax Credit and Social Security

It appears I answered yes to the "Are you a U.S. citizen who lived abroad in one of these countries in 2025?" I corrected and the issue resolved. Thanks.
