Exceptions for claiming non-dependent medical expenses. You can claim an exception for:
- An individual you would have been allowed to claim as a dependent except he or she received gross income of $4,150 or more in the year.
This is my situation. Daughter lived at home, worked, and attended school, but earned more than $4150. The only information I can find for this exception is linked to self-employment. If not self-employed, is this exception still possible?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
This exception also applies if you are not self-employed. Everybody can use this exception to claim Medical Expenses for a person who would be a dependent if he/she earned less than $4,150.
