Why would this be considered RMD since i receive a monthly amount and was never separated before?

Wouldn't the amount I receive during the year each month be considered as part of the RMD automatically?

From what type of account?

If a pension then your monthly payments ARE the RMD.

Yes, all monthly (periodic) payments from a pension are considered as RMDs.
