I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the  directions below:

TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign into your online account.
  2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
  4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
  5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
  6. Please provide the Token number in a reply to this post.

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent”*
  3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  4. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then Send Tax File to Agent”)

Why is the accuracy check asking me to review a Canadian Pension form that I don't have any have not entered?

Hello...I have the same issue.  As I was finishing my retirement information (US only), it took me to a screen asking me to provide the name of my Canadian Retirement plan.  This is a bug that should be fixed.

Why is the accuracy check asking me to review a Canadian Pension form that I don't have any have not entered?

I recreated this issue, and deliberately clicked on the Canadian Registered Pension Income.

I also got a message during Federal Review that my "Canadian Pension" needs review.

When I returned to the Canadian Pension section, I clicked the trash can icon, and said, "Yes" I want to delete this Canada RRP Wks. I did not click continue, I went back to the Federal Review, and the question about the Canadian pension was gone.

Please respond if this does not work for you.

I also have this issue. I tried this: On the Canadian Pension section, I clicked the trash can icon, and said, "Yes" I want to delete this Canada RRP Wks. I did not click continue, I went back to the Federal Review.

Unfortunately it was still there.  Grrr!  I cannot delete it.

Any more suggestions?  Can TurboTax fix this?

If you are not able to remove the Canadian Pension section with the trash can icon, consider using Delete a form in TurboTax Online.

In TurboTax Online, follow these steps:

  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Tax Tools.
  • Click on Tools.
  • Click on Delete a form.
  • Find the form listed and click Delete to the right.

I am getting this same page asking for Canadian pension plan info.  Right after entering SSA info.

BTW, second complaint:  I've been using Turbo Tax since 1993. This year it is a disaster. It did NOT import my data from Ameriprise even though the steps said it did.  I'm having to manually input everything.  It appears you are perhaps trying to discourage using the downloaded version.  There is no way I can trust your servers to not get compromised, so I don't want online filing.

Try this for the Canada Pension error: Use the trashcan icon in the Canadian Pension section next to where this appears, but you don't click Continue, because it creates a new Canada RRP Worksheet. So click the trashcan and go right back to Federal Review.

Also, for the import, this seems to be something most are missing when trying to import:

  • Watch for a message next time: in the left corner top screen a pop up asked if it could access more of the files on my computer,

This does NOT work for me.  I'm using the desktop version & I've tried the above as well as going to Forms & deleting it there.  It appeared to work but reappears.  I've tried deleting the form & then jumping straight to another part of the program.  NOTHING works.

I'm experiencing the same issue.  Definitely a bug.  Took a distribution from IRA and entered correctly.  Then took to a "Did you receive Railorad benefits, or Social Security" question and I answered No.  Then for some inexplicable reason it took me to a Canadian Pension page to name a Canadian Pension.  We have no Canadian income whatsoever.  A HUGE bug - as we cannot move forward with the taxes at this time.  Please fix this quickly.  Looks like this was raised over a month ago.

Also - this is the desktop version.

We are currently investigating the issue and will provide updates as soon as possible.
