Why is Retirement Savings Contribution Credit applying to my taxes if I don’t have anything that applies for it?

This credit may be automatically calculating if you entered a W2 with pre-tax retirement account contributions.  Typically these are shown in box 12 of your W2 with a code of D.

 

Credits are good!  They reduce your tax liability!
