Why is my conversion of ira to roth ira showing as income

Because it is taxable.  And the Review and summary screens show everything as income.  You need to check the actual 1040 line 15a and 15b and make sure the right taxable amount is on 15b.  When you convert a Traditional IRA to a ROTH you pay all the taxes now on it.  Then when you take a Withdrawal from the ROTH  it will be tax free.
