Illinois does not tax retirement income. So you either entered your retirement income in the wrong place in the federal return or you are misunderstanding something you are seeing on your IL return.
Income is entered in the federal software and flows to the state return.
Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
To enter your retirement income, Go to Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA 401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.

Thank you for your answer. That is what I thought too, because I knew there should be no tax. I've done my taxes on Turbo for years, but this was the first time filing single. I went back twice and searched for the error and came up with the same results, so I went to another filing site. Everything went through without a hitch, so I filed with that one and deleted the started return in Turbo. What started out as a less than an hour job, turned into a nerve racking 3 hour ordeal.
