Why doesn't TurboTax recognize the $20,000 credit for military pensions in California?

You will enter this into the state interview section. Once you prepare your California State return, you will land on a screen that says Any Pension or Annuity Adjustments. Here you will enter your military retirement pay as a subtraction.

Thanks for that info.  Found what I needed.  However, when you click on "learn more:  military retired pay is not listed as an example of that type of adjustment you can make.

Let's go another direction. Follow these steps:

1. Open to your federal income
2. Review/ Edit your 1099-R
3. Double check CA information is filled in correctly
4. After entry, select military when asked Where did this distribution come from?
5. select non-qualified when asked the type
6. continue on with your return
7. CA should now be making the adjustment
