Why does adding an IRA contribution increase my federal tax due instead of reducing it? I am over 50, I had 10k taken from my paycheck already. Added 14k and tax went up.

The increase in your balance due is the result of an excess contribution penalty.

Enter amounts shown in box 12 of your W-2 only in box 12 of TurboTax's W-2 form, nowhere else in TurboTax.

The Traditional and Roth IRA Contributions section is only for your personal contributions to an IRA, not to an employer-sponsored plan, and the limit for those contributions for 2019 is $6,000, plus a $1,000 catch-up for those age 50 or over in 2019.
