Why did Turbo Tax not count my Social Security benefits as part of my retirement income?

I entered my Social Security benefits in the Wage and Income section of Turbo tax, but later in the program it didn't show up as part of my total income. Why not? Shouldn't it have?  Did the program somehow not pick it up?

Why did Turbo Tax not count my Social Security benefits as part of my retirement income?

Social Security is not always taxable.  If your other income plus half of your social security is less than $25,000 (if you are single, $32,000 married filing a joint return), then none of your social security is taxable.

You should see your non-taxable portion of your social security on line 5a and your taxable amount (if any) on line 5 b of your 1040.
