Why can't I file electronically if my NYS withholdings are greater than or equal to gross distribution or state distribution? (Form 1099-R) Box 14a

Think about it ... the state withholding cannot be as much as the total distribution amount could it ???   So review your entries in the 1099-R screen for the data entry error ... look at the form carefully as the box numbers may  not line up with the screen boxes  so enter the income by box description instead.

It's looking for an entry in box 16. It should be the same as in box 2a.

For a 1099R   If box 14 for state withholding is empty then leave all boxes 14-16 Blank.

If box 14 has an amount and box 16 is blank put in the amount from box 1 in box 16.
