Where does Soc. sec. income go on the form?

Per IRS, "If you are filing Form 1040 or Form 1040A, report your net benefits (the total amount from box 5 of all your Forms SSA-1099 and Forms RRB-1099) on Form 1040, line 20a; or Form 1040A, line 14a."

To enter your SSA-1099 Form in TurboTax, please follow the steps below:

  • Sign in to TurboTax (if you're not already signed in).
  • Click on the Take me to my return button
  • Click on the Federal Taxes tab
  • Click on the Wages and Income tab
  • Scroll down to the Retirement Plans and Social Security section (Show More)
  • Select Start/Update and follow the interview questions. (See images below).
