To enter a conversion to a Roth is a two step process. You'll need to enter your 1099-R for withdrawing from an IRA and then your current year contributions to a Roth. After you enter your form 1099-R, be sure to answer the questions that follow carefully.
To enter your form 1099-R:
To enter your current year contributions to a Roth: Select Deductions & Credits tab >>> Scroll down to the Retirement and Investments section >>> Click Start/Update next to the Traditional and Roth IRA Contributions.
If you contributed in 2018, but your 1099-R is allocated to 2017, you'll need to report your contributions as made during 2018. As long as they were made within 60 days, they qualify.
