We cannot see your screen--so we do not know what "here" means.   What are you trying to do?

We can't see your screen or return.  Please give more details and maybe a screen shot.  Where are you?

If you could clarify what step you are unsure of we will answer further. However, if you are referring to the entry for your 1099-R, please use the steps below.  Otherwise please update here with additional information and we will help you.

The IRS systems were not yet ready for the 1099-R, continue to check your return. In my test today there is access to enter retirement income.

Open your TurboTax return and follow the steps below:

  1. Search in upper right > Type 1099r >
  2. Click the Jump to... link
  3. Begin or continue your entry following the screen prompts, and/or use the link below for more details.

I have the same question; did you get an answer to your question?

If you understand the original question, please clarify it for us.

  • What payments or withholdings are you referring to?
  • What form did they come from?
  • Where did you try to post it?
  • Are you Online or on a Desktop?
  • What is meant by taxable or refundable?
    • Was this a credit you expected to get?

Did you ever get a response?  I have the same question: On the 'Wages and Income' screen asking for state tax refund information, I have "Oregon" ,"2024", and the 'Amount of refund'.  I don't know what to put in the box labled 'Payments and withholdings'.  What exactly is being asked for here?

In TurboTax, the "Total of all your payments and withholding" for state tax refunds refers to the sum of all state income taxes paid during the previous tax year (the year for which you received the refund, not the current filing year).

This includes state withholding from W-2s/1099s, estimated payments, extension payments, and prior-year overpayments.  This determines if your state refund is taxable.

If you itemized deductions on Schedule A in 2024, you would enter your Payments and Withholdings from your 2024 State Tax Return in these areas.

If you claimed the Standard Deduction in 2024, you don't need to enter anything there, and can delete the State Tax Refund amount as well.

Here's more info on Taxable State Refunds.
