If you are unable to get the Social Security number of your babysitter and you are trying to claim Child Care Credit you cannot efile without this information.

If you still want to claim the credit you can print off your tax return, sign, date and mail it according to the instructions and demonstrate due diligence in attempting to secure this information.

Your babysitter can get a free EIN on the IRS website if he/she does not wish to use their SSN. In any event, he/she must declare that income, even if you do not claim the credit.
