What you do depends on why your Social Security withholdings are too large.
If you had one employer who overwithheld your Social Security taxes, then you should go to the employer and ask that the excess be refunded to you. This can happen when companies switch payroll systems mid-year and restart the SS calculations rather than acknowledge previous SS withholdings by you.
If, however, you had two different employers and the second one withheld too much because they were unaware of the first employer or how much was withheld, then TurboTax will automatically calculate the excess amount and refund it to you on your tax return. This refund will be found on line 72 of Schedule 5 (Form 1040).
