What process did you use to upload the IRS form 1099-DA? Please clarify.
Are you able to create a .pdf of the IRS form 1099-DA that may be uploaded into TurboTax Online?
Does your IRS form 1099-DA report cost basis or only total sales proceeds? If the form does not report cost basis, you will report and pay income tax on the total sales proceeds and not the net sales proceeds.
You may enter the summary information of the IRS form 1099-DA instead of each individual transaction.
will this work with the desktop version?
The import function will be available soon in TurboTax Desktop, but for now, you will need to manually enter your reportable transactions from your 1099-DA form into TurboTax Desktop. Please see where do I enter investment sales for guidance on getting to the correct section in TurboTax.
You would then need to mail Form 8949 to the IRS after electronically filing your tax return by following these instructions. Please see this video for more details on checking this information in TurboTax once it is all entered.
"The import function will be available soon in TurboTax Desktop"
Can you elaborate: how soon? and in what Desktop version?
Manual entry of a 1099-DA in TurboTax Desktop is fairly easy and straightforward. Choose Add Investments > Skip Import > Digital Assets. Enter service name, use 'Sales Section Totals' for a large number of transactions.
Thanks. Yeah, I know how to do it, just not want to mail in 8949 forms
