The federal taxes withheld on box 4 of the Form 1099-R are automatically entered on the federal tax return Form 1040 Line 25b when you enter the Form 1099-R in the Retirement Plans and Social Security section of the program. If you do not see the amounts entered on the Form 1040 then delete the 1099-R and re-enter manually.
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
"massively larger" ? Like how much is "massive".
....a major slip-up in the entry in box 1 or 2a could give that result,
...like double-hitting a number key, or inserting a comma in place of a decimal, thus reporting a larger distribution than was actually done.
Thanks, that fixed it!
