Your Civil Service Retirement is not taxable on your Oklahoma return. It may be taxable on your federal return depending on the amount of other income that you have. So if you have other income besides your CSR then there may be a taxable portion on your federal return.
Thanks for the reply. Federal return is handling the my Civil Service retirement properly, but it won't transfer as Civil Service Retirement to Oklahoma State return. Instead of putting the amount in the Civil Service category it puts it in the Government category with the $10,000 deduction. It is CSRS pension, so it should be in the Civil Service category with and 100% deduction. I entered it as Civil Service in the Federal part of the program and verified that it is entered as Civil Service in the State review, but it does't put it in Civil Service in the summary.
Have you gone through the retirement section on the OK return?
Thanks for your reply - Yes I've gone through the retirement section in the OK return several times, and I make sure Civil Service Retirement is checked, but it still doesn't put it in that category in the completed summary of retirement income.
If you would like to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information it would help. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: (Don't forget to give us the state)
TurboTax Online:
Open your return -Go to the menu panel on the left side of your return and select Tax Tools.
TurboTax Desktop:
If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps:
We will be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return to provide you with a resolution.
Thanks for your reply. the token# is 1329861, state of Oklahoma
We have 3 OPM 1099r. 2 are for Charles and 1 is for Jo Dean. The problem is with Jo Dean's OPM 1099R which is Civil Service Retirement Sytem. Box 1 is $22,140, Box 2a. taxable amount is 19,194.75.
In the Oklahoma Retirement Income Summary page the
Government retirement deduction shows $20,000, it should show $10,000
Civil Service retirement deduction shows $24,831, it should show $44,026
Oklahoma taxable IRA & Pensions shows $40,339, it should show $31,144
Following up to my 2/14/2026 Post RE Oklahoma exclusion for Federal CSRS 1099R income:
Thanks for your reply. the token# is 1329861, state of Oklahoma
Hello - Is the Token# 1329861, for my State of Oklahoma Civil Service Retirement System(CSRS) issue still valid? should I do the diagnostic file process again?
As I review your tax return, the only change I made was to enter a zero for the amount of health insurance payment in Box 5. Your Oklahoma (OK) return shows the correct reduction in both the pension types indicated and on the Retirement Exclusion Worksheet:
The subtractions on Line 2, Form 511 include the correct amounts. You can go to Forms and click on that line to show how they arrived at the total.
If you have more questions or see something differently, please update here.
Thank you for looking at it!😊 I'll log back in and check it again and let you know if I see anything does not make sense on this end.
I'm not seeing the same thing on my end as you are seeing on your end. I uploaded 2 photos of my computer screen to @jdc_carroll they show what I'm seeing for my "Summary of Your Oklahoma Taxes" page and my "Oklahoma Retirement Income Summary" page.
Is the Tax Expert seeing different information on their end than what the filer sees on their end in the online version something you have experienced before?
Yes. The tax expert is seeing this in the Retirement Exclusion Worksheet. The numbers on the worksheet are what is transmitted to the IRS and State of Oklahoma and not the summary worksheet.
You can verify this yourself if you have the software installed on your computer. Go to the forms mode and look under your Oklahoma state return. Look for the Look for the retirement exclusion worksheet to verify what DianeW777 has mentioned.
If you use the online version, you will first need to pay for the product, then you'll have access to your forms.
