If you only have a Form 1099-R to enter on the tax return then the Free online edition supports that form.
However, it depends on what code is entered in box 7 of the form. What code is entered on your Form 1040?
Code 7 in block 7.
Code 7 is a normal distribution so there should be no problem using the Free edition.
Take a look at your Form 1040 to make sure there are no other income entries other than the pension which is reported on the Form 1040 Line 5 for the taxable portion. Also, check the other lines on the Form 1040 for any other entries which should be on the return.
You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
You may have to clear the return and start over.
If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2023 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.
Thank you for the informative answer. Unfortunately, I received it after I talked to an agent who gave me a different answer! Oh, and to make matters worse, they charged me to upgrade my Federal and State returns sperately when I filed. Their free service cost me $80 so far. HA! Greedy . . . !
