The turbotax program gives me credit for "taxes withheld" in TY17 on my SSA 1099r. How is this possible?

No taxes were withheld on my 1099r in 2017, how can turbotax give me credit for those taxes in tax year 2019?

Although it is unusual, it is possible to have taxes withheld from Social Security.  If you have your 2017 tax return, find the Social Security Benefits Worksheet.  It will show any Federal tax withheld on line B.  This will reflect what was posted to your tax return.

Your question is not clear.

Where do you see that "credit" - what form and line?

There is a SSA-1099 for Social Security and a 1099-R for retirement income, but no such form as a SSA 1099R.

Your are asking about tax year 2017?  Are you just trying to file 2017 now?

View the "Tax Payments Worksheet" lines 10-18 to see where withholding came from.
