Please clarify: are you a green card holder?
You do have U.S. source of income if you received 401(k) distribution. There should be taxes withheld as well. It depends on the amount of distribution. You may or may not have filing requirement.
I´m not a green card holder, nor US citizen, I worked in the US (from 2014 - 2020) with Working visa, and was already withheld the 20% of that Gross Distr. $4861 (Box1) Fede. Income tax withheld (Box 4) $972
the whole 2021 year, I lived outside the US , in my home country: Mexico
Thanks
You should also consider filing a nonresident income tax return. You may get a refund.
TurboTax does not handle nonresident taxes, but you can discuss your situation with Sprintax.com. Click here to contact Srintax.com.
