Sounds like the IRS made the correction for you. Look closely at the letter you received. It will indicate if you need to amend or not. I would guess you don't need to.
If you didn't get any taxable Social Security on 1040 line 6b that's a common problem. After you enter the SSA-1099 the next screen asks if you l ived in a Foreign Country. You either answered it wrong or skipped it.
If the IRS adjusted your return for the missing SS you do not need to amend.
