Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

Should Box 2a from 1099-DIV labeled "Total capital gain distribution" be imported into TurboTax if no gains have actually been DISTRIBUTED to me?

Any growth in my investment account is always reinvested. I've never received any dividends. So I'm struggling to understand why any amount is classified on my 1099-DIV as gains that have been distributed.

everything is by computers now.

The gains were distributed to your account in your name and as far as IRS is concerned they were distributed to you.
