Why am I getting an error for New York state return regarding Retirement Distribution due to COVID-19?

The error states that "We're still working on updates related to Retirement Distributions that qualify for disaster or covid relief." This error is only applicable to the state return (NY state), the error for the federal return was resolved on 2/24.

I am getting the same error. I have walked through the NY state return pages again, but am still getting the same error. Any information on when this will be resolved? Turbotax is not letting me eFile unless this error is resolved.

I am also getting the same error for state. I think it is because I deferred the interest for an early deferred comp withdrawal over 3 years with the covid relief option. Do I have to change the taxable amount so its 1/3 for this year? Does anyone know when this is going to be resolved?

Do you know if there is any kind of customer service number that we can call? The only option I'm seeing is to pay more to talk to a Tax Specialist which is obviously not the kind of help I need. I have this error no matter what kind of repayment plan I choose (1/3 or full payment this year)... and I refuse to mail in my return after already paying for the TurboTax service.

Same problem here.  Its also BS I paid Turbotax $110 for Federal and State return to E-File and cant file because of this problem.  Turbo Tax isnt doing anything about it.  I also refuse to pay for additional Tax advice and mail my return.

Hi Everyone,

I called the TurboTax customer service number at [phone number removed] and they were able to walk me through how to e-File my Federal Tax Return while "saving" my New York State Tax Return for later until the system is updated (you need to click on the "File by Mail" option after you get the error screen and it leads you to a page where you can choose which returns to file and how/when). The representative I spoke with could not figure out what the issue was with the New York State return and indicated that it is actually New York state that is the cause of the issue (of course). They were unable to give me a timeline for when that will be resolved. Fortunately for me I owe NY and am getting a positive refund from the Fed so I don't mind waiting on the state return. Hopefully this helps!

Thanks for your help and calling them, but I think the problem is with the TurboTax software program and not NY's fault and in particular, the Pensions/Annuities/IRAs Worksheet.

I just got off the phone with Turbo Tax in regards to this issue.  The Representative told me that there will be updates released 3/5 at 11am which will correct this problem.  Will see what happens.
