Should I have to enter the 1099-DIV info myself? The DIVs were from last year's turbotax.

I have to enter existing DIVs myself and so they appear as new companies.

It isn't a problem that they show up as new, but it is a problem if other tax information did not get carried over from last year. There is a lot of that done behind the scenes. Much easier to import that than having to get it and type that in.

If you used the same online TT account it should have imported your 2018 return automatically. If you didn't use the same account and you haven't done much work, I'd suggest you start over in the same account.

Here is the TT FAQ on importing from a previous year. It tries to cover all the cases (desktop software to online, etc.)

'it should have imported" is the key. one 2019 return did import a long 1099Div list. All other returns only imported about 5 (neither  zero, nor the complee 2018 list).. even tried deleting the imported items as somewhere i read the malicious instructions that the imports had to be done only AFTER prior year transfer was done.....ugh

@jazzerich Whenever you transfer data from a past year (2018?) to a new tax return (2019?) you have to do that transfer at the very beginning of the tax return preparation.  You cannot transfer it later after you have already begun entering 2019 data.
