You do not say what kind of 1099 you are trying to enter--it sounds like it must be one of the kinds that comes from some sort of financial institution. if yours is not listed as one available to import from, then one of the options on the screen is to enter it yourself. Look at the screen again more carefully.

Don't enter the bank name and don't try to import it. It is just as fast and easy to manually enter it. When you enter a 1099 the first screen is How to Enter, by Import or Enter it Myself. Scroll down and click the last circle to enter it myself.
