For my 2019 taxes return I put down my gross income was $12,200 can I change it to $20,000!

I filed without  w2 forms, so I guessed how much I made. When I did my unemployment it showed me how much I made in 2019, over $20,000

What---you "guessed" when you filed a tax return?  Did you e-file that return?  Was it accepted?  Has it been processed?   If it has been processed you can amend it;  if it has not been fully processed then wait until the IRS is done with t and then amend it to correct the income you entered.  (Maybe the IRS will catch your error).

Meanwhile--make every effort to get your W-2(s) if you have not done so.  You need them to file correctly.

W-2's come from your employer(s).  You might need to phone, email and/or snail mail or even stop in on an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.

How do I amend my 2019 TurboTax Online return?

A 1040X cannot be e-filed.  It must be printed and mailed.  It will take about 4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  It is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it, like UPS or certified mail, so you will know it was received.

Wait about 3 weeks from mailing and you can check the status of your amended return:

If you filed, it is like dropping it into a mailbox - you cannot get it back.

  • If your return was accepted, you'll need to amend your return
  • To avoid unnecessary delays, do not amend until your original return has been fully processed.  You will need to print and mail the amendment.
  • Allow 8-12 weeks for processing.

See this TurboTax FAQ for help with amending.
