Our Treasury Bill interest is not showing up as taxable in our Federal Return. It should be taxable, anyone else seeing this?

If you are not seeing Treasury Bill interest included in your Federal taxable income, go back to the Wages & Income section of your Federal return and review your entries for Form 1099-INT. The earnings from holding a Treasury Bill are treated as Interest on the Federal return and should be reported in Box 3.

Interest income from Treasury bills, notes, and bonds is subject to federal income tax but is exempt from all state and local income taxes.

You can preview your return before filing to find out how your taxes were calculated. See here for details.

See this IRS webpage for more information.

If you entered the Treasury Bill interest on the Form 1099-INT in box 3, the taxable amount will be shown on your Form 1040 on Line 2b.
