I purchased a house with my mom this year but had to move out of state shortly after. Since she is making the payments do I have to claim that I purchased a house?

No. There is nothing to report on your tax return when you purchase a home. After you purchase, you can claim deductions for property taxes, mortgage interest and sales tax on major purchases. If she is making the payments, she is who will claim these deductions.

No. There is nothing to report on your tax return when you purchase a home. After you purchase, you can claim deductions for property taxes, mortgage interest and sales tax on major purchases. If she is making the payments, she is who will claim these deductions.
