My wife turns 72 in December 2026 and has a SEP. When does have to start taking the RMD?

My wife has a SEP and turns 72 in December 2026. when does she have to start taking the RMD distribution?  Also how do you calculate the RMD?

Not this year. It's the calendar year she turns 73.

There's a calculator on the following site:

Most brokerage firms/financial institutions will make the calculation for you.
