My wife took our taxes to someone to see if they could do better than myself and TurboTax. He has come up with a $6000 swing. $2000 refund vs $4000 tax bill.

I have not seen what this person did yet, but I'm worried that my wife already paid him $100 and it's going to be filed. If so, can I request the IRS to check it out for me?

The preparer is not suppose to e-file a joint return without your signature on a authorization form.

The IRS will not compare returns for you. You have to that.

If turns out to be wrong, you can always file an amended return
