My son was determined to be 100% disabled by the social security administration, however he does not receive benefits. Do I still check the box that he "was disabled?"

If a doctor has not certify that he is disabled, you would not check the box.

What qualifies as disabled for tax purposes?

A physician must certify that the condition has lasted or can be expected to last continuously for 12 months or more, or that the condition can be expected to result in death.

Thank you for responding. A doctor has determined he is disabled as well as SSA. He just doesn't receive benefits so I wasn't sure if I needed to check the box.

Yes.  If you have proof he is disabled, then you would check the box that he is disabled. Keep your proof documents with your tax return so that you have them available should you ever need them.
