What is shown on your Form 1040 Line 4b for taxable IRA distributions?
You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
After entering your Form 1099-R, you shouldn't delete the form. Instead, continue through the follow-up screens.
On the "Review your 1099-R Summary" page, click Continue. TurboTax will then ask what you did with the money. Be sure to indicate that the funds were moved to a Roth IRA (Roth conversion) if that applies. This step ensures the program calculates the taxable portion correctly.
Once completed, review your Form 1040, line 4b, to confirm the taxable amount reflects the conversion properly.
(EDITED Feb 18, 2026, 1:20 pm, PST)
In 2025 TurboTax, continue past the page that lists the Forms 1099-R that you entered until you reach the page that asks if you had a Roth IRA before 2021. Answering Yes will cause TurboTax to treat code T the same as code Q.
