I had initially entered an amount of $2000 on my federal return and then changed it right away to 600. The state return is using the old 2000amout even though I no longer have that on my federal return.
* Thanks for your replies. I think the $2000 deduction was actually the max deduction for MA self-employed Social security, etc taxes paid. It is independent of my IRA contributions.

First, restart the state return. Second, which state? It may have a limit.
I've already restarted the State return and proceeded all the way through again, but the amount does not change. It's a MA state return and I don't think it's due to state limits because the Federal return has the correct/lower contribution amount but the State is showing $2000. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The right course of action would generally be to delete your state and state over, but you can't in certain cases.
