My child receives survivor benefits because her father passed away, who I was not married too. Do I need to enter that in on my taxes since she is only 11?

Her check does come to me since she is under the age of 18 and he goes into a savings account for her

No. Your child or other dependent would report their SSA-1099 on their own return, but only if they make enough income to be required to file (this is uncommon). If Social Security is your dependent's only income, they most likely don't need to file a return.

In cases where both you and your dependent receive Social Security benefits on the same check and the check is made out to you, only report your portion of the benefits on your return.

check out the Vanguard Money Market fund VMRXX.

Vanguard just told me it is currently paying 4% interest which is way more than my brother's bank savings account, last I looked.

My neighbor was very pleased with his 2% CD rate just before Christmas.
