My 1099-R has a distribution code of 7B....this is a Roth 401k to Roth IRA rollover..... Should I just place 7 since I am unable to update with 7B?

No. To enter two codes follow these steps:

  1. Go to box 7 for the entry.
  2. You will select the 7 and tab or enter to next spot
  3. Then select the B and tab or enter

The 7 shows it is a normal retirement distribution.  The B is for indirect rollover while H is for direct.

Code 7 and code B are two separate codes and both codes must be entered.  See the answer to your duplicate question.

@AmyC , this was apparently an indirect rollover of a Roth 401(k) to a Roth IRA, so Code 7 combined with code B is correct.  Code H is only for direct rollovers.  (Even if it was actually a direct rollover, codes 7 and B together will still produce the correct result when reported as having been rolled over to a Roth IRA.)
