Mass state form keeps putting in retirement deduction when i do not have any

The data in your State of Massachusetts return flows through the data that you entered TurboTax for your Federal Return.  Something is triggering the question.  Here is how to check your entries in TurboTax:

  1. While in your Tax Home,
  2. Select Wages & Income,
  3. Select Review/Edit,
  4. Scroll down to see if you have any Retirement or Social Security Income:
  5. If  you do, select Edit, and delete the items that do not belong.

Hopefully, this helps!

MA allows a limited deduction for your contribution to Social Security, Medicare, railroad retirement, or a US or MA government retirement plan. Self-employment tax paid, if that applies to you, also counts towards this deduction.

For example, SS and Medicare tax reported on your W-2 or self-employment tax from your 1040 would be automatically applied to this deduction.
