Latest update changed my 1099-R tax witheld amount

I completed my TT several weeks ago, printed it and set it aside.  Today I opened it back up, saw it downloaded some updates and was preparing to add a credit for a new residential energe credit when I saw a big change in the tax due.  I tracked it to a 1099-R and the Box 4 "Federal Income Tax Withheld".  The 1099-R and the original (ie, printed copy) showed $2,304 but the amount after the update showed $304 - the "2" had been deleted somehow and the tax due was calculated based on that lower figure.    I cannot see how I could have accidentally altered it myself so I am writing in case anyone else has a similar problem.
