Is there a special section to type ITIN numbers? I've tried typing it in Social Security Number section and it just tells me its incorrect for Social Security Number.

The blank area says, "Social Security Number or ITIN" but when I try to type in my ITIN, it tells me its incorrect.

It's not clear what you mean by the "Social Security Number section." Where exactly are you trying to enter your ITIN? What topic are you in? What is the heading or title on the screen where you are trying to enter the ITIN? In the Personal Info or Your Info section, where you enter your name and birth date, you can enter an ITIN in the box for Social Security Number.

There are some deductions and credits that you cannot claim with an ITIN.

Are you using TurboTax Online or the TurboTax Desktop software?

I am having same issue.  Under section My Info, i tried to put my dependent's ITIN in place of SSI and i get an error message, it does not accept the ITIN.  The help online indicated that is the place to put the ITIN but not working.  This happened to me last year too, and i believe the fix was later in the return process, but i am unable to find it.  I know if i use the SSI my return will be rejected, must use the ITIN for my dependent.  Can you help?
