Is my monthly retirement pension benefit which I have received for 18 years considered an RMD? The amount has never changed. It is a defined benefit retirement plan.

If you are age 70 1/2 or older your pension payment is an RMD.

By definition a defined benefit plan payment is automatically it's RMD.    The plan by law is required to pay the RMD amount in payments during the year.    They can be weekly, monthly, bi-yearly or yearly as long as the years total is the RMD amount.
