Is it necessary to setup equal periodic payments when withdrawing from 401k at 55 after separation from company, or can I withdraw what is needed through the year?

Is it necessary to setup equal periodic payments when withdrawing from 401k at 55 after separation from company, or can I withdraw what is needed through the year?
There is no early withdrawal penalty for a 401(k) for leaving employment at age 55+, so take out whatever you want.
