The screen just after the one where you entered your SSA1099 asks you if you lived in certain foreign countries in 2025.  If you skip past that screen or answer incorrectly, your Social Security will not be taxed correctly.

After entering the SSA-1099, one of the following screens will ask if you have lived in any of the foreign countries listed.  If you did NOT live in those countries you must answer NO otherwise there will not be any Social Security benefits taxed.  Review your answer.

To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button
