Is a 401k acct an example of retirement contributuion?

Not for the IRA Deduction section.  Only enter it from the W2 nowhere else.  It may qualify for the Retirement Savings Credit.

Did you get your W2 yet?  It would be in box 12.  But don't add it if it isn't there.  Ask your employer.
