You'll enter this information in the 1099-R section of TurboTax.

  • Open (continue) your return in TurboTax Online. (If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in and click Take me to my return.)
  • Click My Account (top right of your screen).
  • Select Tools.
  • In the pop-up window, select Topic Search.
  • In the search bar, type csa.
  • In the results box, highlight csa-1099-r, then click GO.
  • You'll land on Your 1099-R. Select Yes and click Continue.
  • Next you'll see Choose your bank or brokerage. Scroll down and click I'll type it in myself.
  • Under Tell Us Which 1099-R You Have, select the CSA-1099-R annuity, then click Continue. (Click the first screenshot below for reference.)
  • Confirm Payer Information, then click Continue. (Click the second screenshot below for reference.)
  • Next you'll be able to Enter Annuity Information. (Click the third screenshot below.) When finished, click Continue. Note: If you didn't receive a CSA-1099-R, you'll need to complete a substitute form. (Click the fourth screenshot below.)
  • Continue following the onscreen instructions to conclusion.

Note: If using the TurboTax CD/Download software, you'll use the Find function (instead of "My Account") to search for the topic.
