If my IRA distributions were non taxable for Federal are they also non taxable for the state of Hawaii?

The Hawaii individual income tax return starts with federal adjusted gross income (AGI) before making adjustments to arrive at Hawaii AGI.

If the IRA distributions are not taxable (like a Roth IRA distribution) and thereby not included in the federal AGI, then the IRA distributions will not be part of the Hawaii AGI and will not be taxed by Hawaii.
