Using TT Premier 2025, I have a situation like the example where the Box 13 amount is higher than the Box 12 amount and TT is flagging it, saying Box 13 should not be higher than Box 12. Any idea why?
yes AMT amount in Box 13 is supposed to be a portion of the tax exempt dividends reported in Box 12 - it's used for AMT calculations - you need to look into the details for boxes 12/13 on your 1099 to see why Box 13 is bigger, your brokerage should have provided a breakdown.
Thanks Baldietax. After seeing your reply I went online and found a corrected 1099-DIV with a lower amount in Box13, looks like their decimal was two places off...
Thanks again!
