If it's asking for an EIN number you are entering it in the wrong place. There is no EIN on social security SSA-1099.

Try going to the search box by My Account and type in SSA-1099 or Social Security Benefits.  That will give you a Jump To link to take you directly to it.

OR
Enter a SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM or RRB-1099  under
Federal Taxes on the left side
Wages and Income
Then scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
Social Security (SSA-1099. RRB-1099) - click the Start or Revisit  button

If you are trying to enter your Social Security benefits, you shouldn't need an EIN.  See below for instructions on where to enter your SS benefits in TurboTax:

  • Select Federal Taxes
  • Select Wages & Income
  • You may need to click on Skip to see all income
  • Retirement Plans and Social Security
  • Click on Show More and Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099)
  • Start

@Lipz0603  Please read the answers above.  There isn't one for Social Security.

@Lipz0603    Are you asking about Social Security benefits you received or something else?  There is no EIN for Social Security.  You might be entering it in the wrong place.

Enter a SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM or RRB-1099  under

Federal Taxes on the left side or top

Wages and Income

Then scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security

Then the second line - Social Security (SSA-1099. RRB-1099) - click the Start or Revisit  button
