Did you get a SSA-1099? Whose ssn is on it? It might go on the children's tax returns if they have other income to report.
If the Form SSA-1099 has the child's Social Security number in box 2, you do not report it on your tax return. It's the child's income, not your income. If the Social Security is the child's only income, he or she is not required to file a tax return. If the child files a tax return for any reason, the Social Security benefits have to be included on the child's tax return.
