If I am 78 years old, retired. On a pension from the US Forest Service. Under $40k per year. Is a portion (all) eligible for retirement benefit deduction? How do I know?

To enter your retirement income, Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.

 

Look on lines 5a and 5b  of your Form 1040 to see how much--if any--of your retirement income was taxable on your federal return.
